Mountain Dream - Live your dream adventure

Chilean Tierra del Fuego - Monte Bove

Dates 4/2/17 to 26/2/17 price £3750

A truly unique opportunity to climb a mountain in one of the least visited mountain ranges outside of the Polar Regions. The peak Monte Bove (2,400m) has only received four ascents since the first - made by the British mountaineer and explorer Eric Shipton in 1962.

The remoteness of the Cordillera Darwin Range of mountains means that we must access them from the sea. Beginning in the Argentinian port of Ushuaia we will board a chartered ocean going yacht and sail across the Beagle Channel to enter Chilean territory at Puerto Williams on Navarino Island. From here we will sail west along the Channel to be dropped off in the beautiful bay of Caleta Olla. Above the bay we set up camp in virgin southern beech forest, below a small glacial lake.

We climb the mountain by its S.W.Ridge, which is a long, but not technically demanding snow ridge. However, the wild and unpredictable weather in this part of the world will make the mountain challenging enough. We will return to Ushuaia by yacht at the end of the trip. The ultimate in wilderness adventures.
